Paige shows materials to Girl ScoutsPaige Thewes, an undergraduate engineering major at Marshall University, volunteers at Discover Engineering Day at the Clay Center in Charleston, WV on March 7, 2015. She is showing a group of Girl Scouts how the use of different materials can change concrete’s properties, even allowing it to float. Many recycled materials, such as fly ash and glass, are now being used in concrete to improve environmental sustainability.
